Why " The Belonging Corner "

Welcome to The Belonging Corner.

When I began my coaching journey, I knew I wanted to create a space where people could bring their whole selves—a place where every emotion, question, and life experience is welcome. A corner where you can simply be, and from that place, begin to become who you truly want to be.

After working with more than 1,500 people in career development, I've learned that career decisions are rarely just about résumés or interview skills. More often, they're shaped by the stories we tell ourselves about what we're capable of, the messages we've received about who we can and can't be, and whether we trust ourselves to make meaningful decisions.

That's why my coaching goes beyond career advice. Together, we'll explore your experiences, values, strengths, and aspirations to help you build a career that reflects your whole self—not just your qualifications. My approach is relational, reflective, and grounded in the belief that a deeper sense of belonging creates the foundation for meaningful work and lasting growth.

ABOUT SHABNAM (SHE/HER)

I’m a first-generation immigrant to Canada, a cisgender and able-bodied woman. My background spans economics, crisis response, career education, and now coaching. Through the intersection of my identity and experiences, I’ve spent the last decade navigating the space between systems and stories, individual experience and policy change.I’ve held many job titles over the years: policy analyst, crisis responder, consultant, career educator, data lead. But the work underneath the work has always been the same: listening deeply, holding space for real conversations, and weaving together systems and stories to help people reach their full potential, while working to make a dent in the systems around us.Through The Belonging Corner, I bring together everything I’ve learned — in community, in crisis, and in quiet one-on-one conversations — to create a space where people can come home to themselves.

"I had a coaching session with Shabnam a few months ago that had a positive impact on me. Something I liked about the session was that she was an attentive listener who asked the right questions and let me find the words to verbalize what I was feeling. Though our time was short, I did not feel rushed as she created a space for me to just be myself. I would gladly recommend Shabnam to anyone in need of coaching. Her approach is relational and I could tell that she cares about her clients."
